Floor Safety & Anti-Slip Treatment

What is nano anti-slip treatment?

A process that creates microscopic texture on the surface and provides better traction, significantly increasing the wet coefficient of friction (Wet SCOF between 0.5 and 0.6 or above) and reducing slip-and-fall risk on treated surfaces in wet conditions. The treatment is invisible, does not alter the appearance of the floor, and is long-lasting with proper maintenance.

What causes slippery floors?

Causes: High humidity, spillage, floor mopping, improper cleaning, and wax-coated floors. Solution: The property that makes a floor slip-resistant in the presence of a lubricating contaminant such as water is its surface irregularity. The irregularities (like mountain peaks under a microscope) must be tall enough and sharp enough to extend upward through the lubricating film and engage the shoe bottom — similar to how sandpaper grips wood. New floors quickly become slippery when wet as these irregularities become worn down over time.

What causes slip-and-fall accidents?

It is usually a localized spot that is slipperier than the rest of the floor that causes the unsuspecting pedestrian to slip and fall. In normal walking, the maximum traction demand is in the "pushing off" phase. If an unexpected slippery spot occurs on a floor, a classic heel slip could occur. Our treatment makes the surface less slippery when wet than dry, so the presence of a lubricant does not create an "unexpected slippery spot."

How long does the anti-slip treatment last?

A single professional application of TENI-GRIP Ultra alters the surface micro-texture permanently and typically delivers 3 to 5 years of active slip resistance in residential spaces, and 1 to 2 years in high-traffic commercial environments. Because microscopic pores can gradually accumulate grease, hard-water mineral deposits, and detergent residues, routine maintenance is essential:

  • Residential: A deep degreasing wash (using TENI Pre-Wash) is recommended every 12 to 24 months to restore peak friction.
  • Commercial: Periodic deep extraction cleaning is recommended every 6 to 12 months depending on foot traffic and cleaning protocols.

Will the treatment change the look of my floor?

No. The treatment will not alter the appearance, color, or texture of your floors. It is completely invisible and does not create a coating or film on the surface.

How is this treatment different from other anti-slip solutions?

Unlike abrasive coatings, paints, or acid-etching methods, our treatment (pH 6.2) is not corrosive. It works by creating microscopic texture through nano-chemistry, not by roughening the surface. It will not alter the appearance, color, or texture of floors, and provides long-lasting slip resistance with proper maintenance.

What surfaces can be treated?

TechNanoIndia Ultra: Ceramic tiles, granite, porcelain tiles, and vitrified tile floors. TechNanoIndia Supra: Marble, mosaic, Kota stone, Kadapa stone, concrete, terrazzo, and quarry tiles.

What surfaces does the treatment NOT work on?

The treatment does not work on vinyl flooring, acrylic or silicone sealed surfaces, painted surfaces, asphalt, wood, plastic, fiberglass, or waxed surfaces. If you are unsure, we can do a test in an inconspicuous corner.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes. The treatment has a near-neutral pH of approximately 6.2, which neutralizes upon drying. It is designed to be low-hazard when cured (see SDS). Please allow adequate curing time before allowing foot traffic. Contact us for detailed safety information.

How long does the application take?

A bathroom takes approximately 15–30 minutes. For larger areas (500–1000 sq ft), it takes approximately 1–2 hours after washing the floors. Allow adequate curing time before heavy foot traffic. Contact us for specific re-entry guidelines for your surface type.

How do I maintain a treated floor?

Normal cleaning products and procedures may be used. If the floor feels slippery during the warranty period, use a degreaser to remove any polymerization (a mixture of dirt, food particles, and grease that creates a waxy film) which has built up and covered the surface.

What is SCOF?

SCOF (Static Coefficient of Friction) measures the slip resistance when a person is standing still. A Wet SCOF between 0.5 and 0.6 or above indicates good slip resistance for most applications. Our treatment is designed to raise wet SCOF to between 0.5 and 0.6 or above on treated surfaces, aligned with NFSI B101.1-2022 targets.

Do you offer floor safety inspection?

Yes, we offer comprehensive floor safety inspection using the TENI-826MU digital SCOF meter. We measure SCOF to determine traction classification per NFSI B101.1-2022 methodology. After inspection, we provide a detailed report and can recommend treatment options.

Will the grout be affected?

No. The treatment is not corrosive and will not harm grout lines.

Can the floor be waxed or sealed after treatment?

No. In order for the treatment to be effective, your foot must come in direct contact with the treated surface. Wax or sealant will block that action. The floor must also be stripped or dewaxed before application.

Where can the treatment be used?

The treatment can be applied in residential areas (bathrooms, kitchens, stairs, pools), commercial spaces (hotels, hospitals, offices, malls, restaurants), industrial facilities (factory floors, workshops, warehouses), public buildings (temples, government offices, schools, airports), and recreation areas (clubs, swimming pools, verandas).
