Substrate Identification & Anti-Slip Dwell Protocol

This is the complete do-it-yourself kit guide. Chemical anti-slip treatments modify surface silica (μ-porosity). Select your floor type below to determine the exact required product variant and reaction dwell window — then follow the kit contents, 4-step application guide, and calibrated micro-patch pilot test.

Important Notice on Reaction Times:

The timings specified below are standard benchmark ranges. Actual reaction time can vary significantly depending upon the specific type, mineral composition, and quality grade of your tile (e.g., zircon-fortified frits, factory nano-sealers, premium double-charge vs. standard glazes). Always perform the calibrated 3-patch pilot test to verify the exact time required for your lot.

Check a loose spare tile or transition threshold edge to confirm the body.

Verify if the pattern is a thin top glaze or runs through the entire tile.

1 Standard Substrate Dwell Time & Product Matrix
Substrate Type Surface Definition Assigned Product Required Dwell Time* Protocol Note
Full-Body Vitrified Raw, mechanically polished quartz/feldspar core TENI-GRIP Ultra P 1 – 2 Minutes Rapid reaction. Stop at 1–2 min to preserve high mirror finish.
PGVT / GVT Polished glazed vitrified silicate frit over porcelain TENI-GRIP Ultra P 3 – 4 Minutes Even silicate attack; check wet foot drag at minute 3.
Polished Granite Natural igneous stone (Quartz, feldspar & mica) TENI-GRIP Ultra P 3 – 4 Minutes Crystalline quartz matrix responds evenly in 3–4 minutes.
Standard Ceramic Refractory alumina/zircon-fortified glaze over clay TENI-GRIP Ultra C 4 – 5 Minutes Alkaline/zircon-shielded enamel requires 4–5 min contact.
Marble / Glass Calcite matrix (CaCO3) or float silica glass EXCLUDED DO NOT APPLY (0 Min) Dissolves marble calcite; permanently frosts/hazes optical glass. For marble use the milder Supra variant — never Ultra.
*Note: Stated dwell times are recommended baselines. Time can vary depending upon your specific tile type, glaze thickness, kiln temperature, and manufacturing quality.
K What's Inside the Kit

Everything needed to apply the Ultra treatment like a professional — 250 mL covers approx. 30 sq. ft for self-application (120 sq. ft Pro Combo also available).

1
TENI-GRIP Ultra Treatment Solution (250 mL)

Precision sub-micron silica etchant with gloss-preserving kinetic buffers. Ultra P for vitrified porcelain & granite; Ultra C for standard glazed ceramic.

2
TENI-Prewash Concentrate (100 mL)

Heavy-duty wax and transit residue stripper. Removes factory protective wax coats before treatment.

3
TENI Friction Stop (250 mL)

Rapid alkaline reaction quencher that raises surface pH above 7.0 and locks in target traction.

4
Calibrated 2.0 mL Dispensing Pipette

For standardized 10 × 10 cm micro-patch test calibration on your lot.

5
Chemical-Resistant Foam Applicator

For streak-free, uniform liquid film spreading across the treatment area.

6
Nitrile Safety Gloves

Protective hand PPE for safe chemical handling during application.

2 Calibrated Micro-Patch Pilot Test Protocol (10 × 10 cm)

Select your formulation below to view its tailored 3-patch testing protocol. Avoid raw droplet tests: perched droplets concentrate etchant 10× faster at the focal point. Always spread a calibrated 2.0 mL volume across a full 10 × 10 cm footprint to match real-world mop dosage (100 mL/m²).

STEP 1

Clean & Outline Test Patches

Thoroughly clean a spare tile or inconspicuous corner using TENI-Prewash (1:5 dilution). Mark three adjacent 10 × 10 cm squares (100 cm² each) using masking tape or a grease pencil.

STEP 2

Apply Calibrated 2.0 mL Dosage & Spread

Using a graduated pipette or syringe, deposit exactly 2.0 mL into Patch 1 and immediately spread it into an even liquid film across the entire 10 × 10 cm square using a Chemical-Resistant foam applicator. Repeat sequentially for Patch 2 and Patch 3.

STEP 3

Timed Neutralization

Halt etching at each target window by flooding the patch with TENI Friction Stop:

P1 10×10

Patch 1

2.0 mL / 100 cm² 1 – 2 Minutes

Neutralize with TENI Friction Stop at the targeted mark.

P2 10×10

Patch 2

2.0 mL / 100 cm² 3 – 4 Minutes

Neutralize with TENI Friction Stop at the targeted mark.

P3 10×10

Patch 3

2.0 mL / 100 cm² 5 – 6 Minutes

Neutralize with TENI Friction Stop at the targeted mark.

Micro-Patch Evaluation Protocol:

After flooding with TENI Friction Stop and wiping dry:
1. Traction Check: Wet the patches with tap water and firmly slide a wet shoe sole or palm across each square. Note where required grip engages.
2. Optical Check: View the dry tile at a shallow 20°–30° angle against light reflections. Select the shortest dwell time that achieves required grip with zero specular clouding or glaze hazing.

A Step-by-Step Application Guide

The complete 4-step job chronology — from pre-wash to a floor that's safe for foot traffic.

Handling & Safety: TENI-GRIP Ultra is a reactive chemical intended for professional and trained-DIY use. Read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling, wear the supplied nitrile gloves, work in a ventilated area, keep TENI Friction Stop on hand throughout, and keep the product away from children and pets.
  1. STEP 1

    Surface Pre-Wash

Dilute TENI-Prewash (1:5 with water) and scrub the floor thoroughly to remove transit wax, soap scum, and oils. Rinse with clean water and dry completely.

  2. STEP 2

    Calibrated Micro-Patch Test

Wet-test each patch with your palm or shoe to select the optimal dwell time that gives maximum grip with zero hazing. The full protocol is above in Part 2.

  3. STEP 3

    Full Area Application

Decant the TENI-GRIP Ultra solution into a clean, empty plastic bucket or container. Take a clean flat mop, dip it into the solution, and mop it evenly across the tile surface to form a continuous, uniform wet sheet (100 mL/m²). Maintain continuous surface wetness throughout the entire selected dwell window — re-mop lightly if any section begins to dry.

  4. STEP 4

    Reaction Neutralization & Rinse

Flood the floor immediately with TENI Friction Stop to halt chemical action instantly. Squeegee off and flush thoroughly with clean tap water. The floor is immediately safe for foot traffic.

3 Crucial Application Rules
  • 1
Pre-Wash to Remove Factory Transit Wax:

New tiles often carry protective factory wax coats. Scrub first with TENI-Prewash (1:5 dilution) to clear coatings; otherwise, etching will be uneven.

  • 2
    Never Use Beaded Droplet Tests:

Stationary drops concentrate active bifluoride ions over a tiny footprint and etch up to 10× faster than full floor applications. Always spread 2.0 mL across a calibrated 10 × 10 cm patch to evaluate true dwell kinetics.

  • 3
Maintain a Continuous Wet Liquid Sheet:

Never allow the chemical solution to dry on the surface during the treatment window. Re-spread immediately if dry patches or streaks develop.

  • 4
Mandatory Neutralization with TENI Friction Stop:

Plain water dilution slows down the acid but does not immediately halt microscopic etching. Applying TENI Friction Stop raises surface pH above 7.0 instantly, locking in target traction.
